The Sony Alpha a9 II, the successor of the first generation, comes with an improved design, better connectivity, and faster performance. It uses the reliable 24.2MP full-frame Exmor RS BSI stacked CMOS sensor and an upgraded BIONZ X processor, which gives the a9 II its remarkable speed and responsiveness.
The sensor is designed with a 693-point phase-detection autofocus system, which provides intelligent tracking of subjects and Real-time Eye AF, ensuring that moving subjects remain in sharp focus. The BIONZ X can perform up to 60 AF/AE operations per second, complementing the 20 fps shooting capability, which guarantees reliable results in rapidly changing scenarios. Besides still images, the sensor supports UHD 4K video recording at a maximum of 30 fps.
The a9 II comes equipped with a 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE sensor-shift image stabilization, which effectively reduces camera shake by up to 5.5 stops. This feature enhances the imaging capabilities of the camera. The a9 II has also undergone a significant upgrade in its physical design, boasting a more ergonomic body shape, enhanced weather sealing, and superior connectivity. For a clear and bright eye-level view, it offers a 3.69m-dot OLED EVF.
