Allows enough room behind the device (between the device and the wall) to use the etherate ports and power cable. Hole in base for product label & information to allow viewing of the devices specific details. Face plate covers bright LED for relief on the eyes at night. LED still visible (dim). The Anti-Flex design prevents the weight of the device from bending the bracket when suspended away from the wall.
