18 in 1 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND USAGE GUIDE

FULL FEATURE COMPATIBILITY Computer devices having Thunderbolt 3 or USB C 3.2 Gen2 ports will have full feature compatibility. If your USB C device has USB 3.1 Gen 1/3.2 Gen 1 ports, it will work but not at full speed
2 X HDMI Max video output resolutions upto 4K@60Hz (DSC 1.2) . If the source USB C laptop supports DisplayPort 1.4/HDMI 2.0 interface , max video output resolution from HyperDrive will be 4K@60Hz. If the source USB C laptop supports DisplayPort 1.2/HDMI 1.4 protocol , max video output resolution from HyperDrive will be 4K@30Hz.
DISPLAYPORT / VGA DISPLAYPORT and VGA share the same video output so only one (DP or VGA) port can output video at any given time. If both are connected, DP will have priority over VGA
MULTIPLE DISPLAY EXTENSION Upto 3 extended displays can be connected at the same time. MacOS supports SST (Single Stream Transport) so all external displays will show the same image at max 4K60Hz. PC Windows/ChromeOS supports MST (Multiple Stream Transfer) and will support 3 extended displays. 1 extended display will support max 4K60Hz. 2 extended displays will be max 4K30Hz + 4K30Hz. 3 extended displays will be max 4K30Hz + 4K30Hz + 1080p

Product FAQs

Q. How do I find out if my device supports 4K60Hz?

A - These Apple devices support DisplayPort 1.4 and are capable of 4K60Hz

  • iPad Pro 11-inch (2018 and 2020) / iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd & 4th Generation) / MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017 and later) / MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019 and later) / iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017 and later) / iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 and later) / iMac Pro (2018)

For Windows devices, the best way to find out is to reach out to the manufacturer of your device. They can provide detail based on the serial number of your device, as sometimes, even different versions of the same device can have different specs.

Q. Why can't I charge my iPad Pro through my GEN2 Hub?

A- The HyperDrive GEN2 Hub requires a minimum of 15W power to operate. The standard iPad Pro charger is an 18W charger, meaning the Hub takes almost all the power. You will need a charger with a minimum of 30W power to charge the iPad Pro through the HyperDrive.

Due to the 18 Port GEN2 Hub needing a maximum of 55W, we suggest either using a minimum of 60W PD charger, or you can also use the 180W power adapter.

Q - Can HyperDrive's HDMI port work with a VGA monitor using HDMI to VGA cable ?

A- NO, it won't work with a VGA monitor. The HyperDrive HDMI port will work with a HDMI monitor only using direct HDMI to HDMI cable. Please make sure your Display is set to correct HDMI input source

Q. External HDD / Pendrive not getting detected when connected to USB A port of HyperDrive

A - USB storage device may not be having iPadOS / MacOS readable file storage format. Please change it to exFAT or any other compatible file storage format. (Note - Most of the new external HDDs ship with NTFS as default file storage format which is readable in MacOS but not readable in iPadOS)

Q. There is no video out to TV / monitor from my USB C laptop / smartphone / tablet using HDMI port of HyperDrive.

A- USB C devices must support Displayport Alt Mode (video out signal over USB C port) in order to transfer video to a monitor / TV using HDMI port of HyperDrive. If your USB C laptop / tablet / smartphone doesn't support this protocol, no video signal will be transferred from your device to a TV/monitor through HyperDrive and therefore no video will be displayed on TV / monitor from your device

Q. Can we use any USB C cable for connecting GEN2 18 in 1 USB C hub to MacBook / PC ?

A- No, please ensure you are using the cable that comes with the Hub. This cable is underneath the black plastic that held the Hub in place. This has fixed a majority of connectivity issues with this Hub particularly. If you have lost this cable, you can either get a USB-C cable that supports 10Gbps, 100W power, and DisplayPort 1.4/HDMI 2.0

Q.Having connectivity or video issues issues using HyperDrive on Windows?

A-To troubleshoot most Windows USB connectivity issues, you can try uninstalling the drivers for USB. They get automatically reinstalled once the computer reboots.

To do so, open Device Manager. You can do that by pressing Windows Key + X and choosing Device Manager from the list. Locate the device driver (under Universal Serial Bus controllers) and right-click the ones regarding to USB Hubs. Choose Uninstall device to remove the driver.

Once you uninstall the drivers, power cycle your device.

Q. Why can't I get 4K60Hz?

A - USB-C devices rely on the DisplayPort protocol for display over USB-C, allowing DisplayPort, HDMI, and other display options to be displayed over USB-C. Devices can be DisplayPort 1.2 or DisplayPort 1.4.

When the HyperDrive Gen2 USB-C Hub is connected to a computer, it will occupy 2 lanes for USB 3.2 signal to support USB-A/LAN/card slots, leaving out 2 lanes for video. If the computer has a DP 1.2 USB-C port, the 2 lanes can only support up to 4K 30Hz. If it is a DP 1.4 USB-C port, the 2 lanes can deliver 4K60Hz.

Q. Having connectivity, charging, or video issues using HyperDrive on your MacBook?

A - Resetting your Mac System Management Controller (SMC) and/or the Mac PRAM/NVRAM can be a solution. This is sometimes necessary to restore normal lower level system functionality to your Mac, particularly for power and hardware related troubles. Please check HyperDrive Knowledge Base / HYPER Support forum for more information on how to resolve these issues.
